Lake QuannapowittLake Quannapowitt is a favorite destination for locals, and Outdoor Recreation is proud to add boat rentals to its many attractions. Driving by on any given day, you're bound to see hundreds of people walking, jogging, or biking the 3.5-mile loop that circles the lake. It makes you wonder why you're not out there enjoying the day yourself! Lake Quannapowitt Park, with it's beautiful gazebo, makes the perfect starting or ending point for a walk, and also serves as the location of our boathouse. There are tree shaded paths, abundant benches, and a playground for the kids. There is also a small beach, though swimming is not allowed. But you can still lie out on a blanket to watch the sailboats and windsurfers! From the park, it's only a short walk to Wakefield center and it's shops and restaurants. The Town of Wakefield sets up many events that take place every year, including summer night movies at the park and one of the largest 4th of July parades in Massachusetts, complete with fireworks over the lake. The lake is a 254-acre reservoir with an average depth of only 6 feet. There are many types of fish, including largemouth bass, perch, and pickerel. In recent years, Lake Quannapowitt has gone through an extensive water clean-up campaign, and the green spots around the lake are constantly being improved. Walk the lake for exercise? Why not try kayaking the lake instead? Kayaking is a great workout that really works the upper body and core. So switch it up every once and a while and target your whole body! Try our boat card that lets you pay up front and just stamp and go whenever you feel like boating. Or really commit and get our unlimited boating pass! It's good at all three of our locations (the Middlesex Fells Reservation is just a few miles away), and hey, maybe you'll even find a new favorite outdoor destination.
